Suburb crime rankings

1,234 suburbs and towns ranked by recorded crime per resident, from official police figures. New South Wales and South Australia publish offences by suburb; the other states publish by council area, so for them we rank councils.

Read rates with care. Police count an offence where it happens, and these rates divide by the people who live there. Suburbs with a city centre, a large shopping centre or nightlife draw many visitors, so their rates run high even if few residents are affected. Suburbs under 2,000 residents are not ranked: a handful of incidents would swing their rate. Every suburb page still shows its figures.
