Interactive map of recorded crime for every Australian local government area to 2024-25: violent, property and detailed offence rates per 100,000 people, rankings, trends and live police media releases, built from official state and territory data and refreshed automatically.
Rates are offences per 100,000 residents so that a small shire and a capital city can be compared. Categories follow the Australian and New Zealand Standard Offence Classification (ANZSOC): homicide, assault, sexual offences, robbery, break-ins, vehicle theft, other theft, fraud, drugs, weapons, property damage, public order and justice offences, plus violent and property crime headlines. Periods are financial years. It currently covers 548 council areas from 1994-95 to 2024-25, with data from NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA, ACT, NT, TAS.
Data sources
Police media releases from official newsroom feeds are pinned to the map and refreshed every three hours. The code and the standardised dataset are open source on GitHub.
