The release

Raptor Squad officers have charged a Queensland man following multiple alleged vehicle thefts, pursuits and a siege on Sydney's Northern Beaches yesterday.

Just after 2.30pm on Tuesday 27 October 2026, officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command commenced an investigation following reports of two vehicles allegedly stolen from a home on Reynolds Crescent, Beacon Hill.

Police were told the vehicles – both BMWs – were stolen between 1pm and 2.30pm earlier that day.

Following initial inquiries, police attended a hardware store on Allambie Road, Frenchs Forest, where one of the stolen BMWs was located abandoned. The vehicle was seized for forensic examination.

When the second BMW was seen being driven from the scene, the driver was directed to stop by police. When the driver allegedly ignored the direction, a pursuit was initiated but was terminated shortly afterwards due to safety concerns.

With assistance from PolAir, police monitored the vehicle as it travelled through Killarney Heights, Frenchs Forest, Brookvale and Allambie Heights. During this time, the vehicle allegedly collided with several parked vehicles and drove over a number of median strips and footpaths.

The car was later abandoned on Ellis Road, Beacon Hill, before the driver allegedly entered and drove away in a Toyota Supra that had been parked nearby.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a second pursuit was initiated but was also terminated due to safety concerns.

That vehicle was subsequently abandoned after mounting an embankment on Roosevelt Avenue, Allambie Heights, before the driver allegedly left on foot.

Police pursued the man before he climbed onto the roof of a nearby home on Kirra Road, where he allegedly threatened officers.

Officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command, North Shore Police Area Command, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Public Order and Riot Squad, Tactical Operations Unit and PolAir established a perimeter and commenced negotiations with the man.

A 30-year-old man was arrested about 6.20pm and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for assessment.
