The release

A man will face court today charged after allegedly detaining and assaulting a man known to him on the Central Coast yesterday.

About 12.20pm (Monday 14 September 2026), emergency services were called to Coleridge Road, Bateau Bay, after a man attended a property and told the occupants he had been assaulted and held against his will at a nearby address.

Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District attended and were told a 49-year-old man had attended a home on Poplars Avenue about 11.30am yesterday when he was allegedly threatened, detained and assaulted by a man known to him before he was able to escape.

The 49-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital for further treatment.

A short time later, officers established a crime scene at a home on Poplars Avenue.

A 50-year-old man was arrested a short time later and taken to Wyong Police Station.

The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 6 today (Tuesday 15 September 2026).
